DAVAO CITY - President Rodrigo Duterte graced the launch of Pilipinong May Puso Foundation at a hotel in Davao City Friday evening after he failed to attend the culmination activity of the National MSME Summit earlier in the day.

In his speech, Duterte said he had a migraine and had to take a rest, forcing him to miss the Town Hall Session of the MSME Summit, which was hosted by Kris Aquino.

The Pilipinong May Puso Foundation was founded in honor of Duterte's late mother, Soledad Roa Duterte.

In his speech, Duterte took the opportunity to lash out anew at Senator Leila de Lima.

He also weighed in on the operation conducted by the CIDG which left suspected drug lord Rolando Espinosa and one inmate dead.

Duterte's interview by Aquino had been widely promoted and advertised.

"Minsan ang mga first date hindi natutuloy," said Aquino on stage after she was introduced by Concepcion.

Aquino said she does not know why she was "snubbed."

Aquino said she lost weight just for the exclusive interview.

"Minsan ang mga first date hindi natutuloy. President Duterte pinaghandaan kita, nag-dyeta ako ng dalawang linggo," Aquino said on stage at the SMX Convention Center in Davao City.

(Sometimes, the first date doesn't push through. I even prepared for this and went on a diet for two weeks.)

She hopes that her cancelled meeting with Duterte will still push through in the future.

"President Duterte, please give me a chance. I hope one day mamahalin mo rin ako (one day you will also love me)," she said.

"I apologize again that the date hindi natuloy (did not push through). I was stood up. But I assume the next time,...sisipot na siya (he will attend)." - With a report from Dexter Ganibe, ABS-CBN News
