MANILA - A low pressure area (LPA) spotted east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte Saturday morning is expected to bring scattered rain showers and cloudy skies in parts of the country, weather bureau PAGASA said.
"Dahil sa trough nitong LPA, makakaranas ng maulap na kalangitan na may kalat-kalat na pag-ulan at pag-kidlat at pag-kulog ang Bicol region, Eastern Visayas at Quezon," weather forecaster Shiela Reyes said on DZMM radio.
Reyes said there is a slim chance that the LPA would develop into a tropical storm in the next 24 to 48 hours.
The tail-end of a cold front is also expected to form over Northern Luzon and is likely to bring rains over the area.
"Kaya inaasahan nating sa Cagayan Valley region at Aurora ay mataas ang tyansa ng pag-ulan," she said.
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon or amihan is affecting Northern Luzon and will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains to Ilocos region and the Cordillera Administrative Region.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will also experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms.
