ZAMBOANGA CITY - At least P5 million worth of illegal drugs were confiscated in a buy-bust operation on Governor Camins Avenue here Friday, the biggest haul yet in a Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency operation since it took the lead in government's drug war.

Arrested in the operation were suspects Din-din Ronie, Dismar Gulam, Jamesar Hussin, Jamesar Abdulmaid, and Binnajar Hadjili.

The agency recovered 20 packs of suspected shabu and P349,000 in marked money. It said the price of the illegal drug could triple when distributed in the streets.

PDEA Regional Office 9 Director Lyndon Aspacio said the drugs were reportedly transported from Malaysia by a syndicate that operates around Zamboanga, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.

He said the operation was PDEA's biggest drug bust yet since President Rodrigo Duterte tasked the agency to take over the anti-drug campaign, ordering the Philippine National Police to back down.
