TACLOBAN CITY – A total of 144 families displaced by typhoon Yolanda moved in on Thursday from their temporary shelters to permanent housing in Tacloban.
The displaced families moved out of their temporary shelters in Barangay Utap. Their new home is located in Barangay New Kawayan.
On Friday, another batch consisting of 79 families will also move to the permanent shelter.
The Tacloban City Housing and Community Development Office hopes to transfer those still at temporary shelters to the new relocation site before the year ends.
By 2017, they target to start the movement of families who are still living in coastal areas or from the danger zones to the relocation sites.
However, they were quick to add that this will depend on the number of houses that will be made available by the National Housing Authority
