MANILA - At least 5 provinces were placed under signal number 1, Wednesday morning, as tropical depression "Ramil" continues to barrel along the western parts of the country, state weather bureau PAGASA said.
Signal number 1 was hoisted over Southern Occidental Mindoro, Southern Oriental Mindoro, Aklan, Antique, and Palawan including the Calamian Group of Islands, PAGASA said in its 11 a.m. briefing.
"Ramil" was spotted 85 km east southeast of Coron with maximum sustained winds of 45 kph and gustiness up to 60 kph, PAGASA said.
"Bagamat offshore 'yung sentro ni "Ramil," napakalawak ng kaulapang dala nito to the point na umaabot na sa ilang portions ng Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, Metro Manila, Bicol region at Western Visayas," PAGASA said.
"Ramil" is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility and head toward Vietnam by Thursday evening or Friday morning.
