A South Korean man was found dead in Cebu City on Tuesday.
Police said the death of 34-year-old Jo Hyoyoung in his hotel room in the city's North Recreation Area, Tuesday afternoon may be a case of robbery with homicide.
SPO1 Janice Tamayo said there were signs of struggle on Jo's body, whose neck was tied with a cable wire connected to the faucet. Both of his hands were also tied with telephone wires.
Tamayo added that Jo's sling bag was emptied of his personal belongings. Empty beer cans and condoms were found in the room's trash bin.
The victim was not seen with a companion, the hotel staff told police.
Jo reportedly checked in on October 25 and was supposed to check out on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, police said it believes another Korean citizen, Lim Jaemin, suffered a natural death inside his hotel room in Barangay Lahug, Tuesday morning.
Tamayo said friends of Lim told the police that the latter had been taking medicines for diabetes.
Authorities added that they did not see any signs of struggle after discovering the lifeless body of Lim lying in bed.
Joseph Shin, chief officer of the Korean Consular Office in Cebu, said they will coordinate with the police regarding the two incidents.
