MANILA - Former Senator Juan Ponce Enrile will not undergo pre-trial for his graft cases in connection to the pork barrel scam until after over half a year.
The Sandiganbayan on Monday cancelled the supposed pre-trial of Enrile's case because of the unfinished marking of documentary evidence of both for the the defense and prosecution panels.
The pre-trial summarizes the proposed stipulation of both parties, as well as the list of witnesses and documents marked as exhibits to be presented for an orderly trial.
Both parties were given until May to hold preliminary conferences. This will involve the marking of documentary exhibits that will be used for the trial.
Enrile's pre-trial was moved to June 26, 2017.
Enrile faces charges of plunder and graft for allegedly pocketing P172.8 million in kickbacks and commissions from supposed scam mastermind Janet Lim Napoles after allocating portions of his Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) to spurious non-government organizations.
He has a pending appeal to dismiss his plunder case.
