BOHOL - A former drug user is facing a parricide complaint after allegedly killing his grandfather two weeks ago.
Jeffrey Item, 30, a resident of Sitio Ylaya, Barangay San Roque, Talibon reportedly cut open his grandfather, Simplicio Item, and removed his internal organs. He then took an empty pot and placed it over the head of the 86-year-old man.
According to the suspect, he did not commit any crime. He also argued that he no longer has a family after he was kicked out and tagged as mentally ill.
But the family members who live with Jeffrey in the same compound saw the brutal killing of the old man.
Until now, the family cannot accept what Jeffrey has done. They refuse to forgive him nor visit him at the police station where he is currently detained.
They disclosed that Jeffrey was once a drug user but stopped when he moved back home to Bohol this year after an 11-year work stint in Cebu as a security guard.
He will be transferred to the Talibon District Jail once a commitment order from the court arrives.
