MANILA-- Illegal drugs are common enemies of the Philippines and China, according to Chinese Ambassador H.E. Zhao Jianhua.
Jianhua said China is willing to support and finance drug rehabilitation centers in the coming years since illegal drugs are "common enemies of all nations."
"The Chinese side will support and finance rehabilitation centers in the following years. As a matter of fact, there are Chinese businessmen who have been so generous that they donated one rehab center [that is] under construction," Jianhua said in a forum at Kamuning, Quezon City.
The rehabilitation center, which is located in a military camp in Manila, can accommodate up to 2,500 drug users and pushers, Jianhua said.
The ambassador added that Duterte previously inquired about rehabilitation centers and traffic control centers in Beijing.
He said China also faces serious illegal drug problems and has stricter laws since the country implements the death penalty on drug users and pushers.
