Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Director General Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa on Friday danced to "Tayao," a Benguet cultural dance, as he accepted his adoption as a "son of Cordillera."

Dela Rosa was joined by his wife and several Cordillera officials and elders in the performance of the ritual, where a wild pig was also offered.

The police chief was named "Mulingan," which refers to the hardest type of stone in Cordillera and was used by locals in making weapons and other tools in the olden times.

The community adopted the police chief citing how the PNP has addressed the drug problem in Cordillera, and for implementing a modernization program that has improved operations in police stations, curbing the crime volume.
