A former "Oplan Tokhang" surrenderer was arrested by police in a buy-bust operation in Cubao, Quezon City Wednesday night.

Seized from Ronualdo De Vera were three sachets of suspected shabu, P500 buy-bust money, and drug paraphernalia.

Supt. Benjie Tremor, chief of Cubao Police Station, said the suspect earlier yielded to police under Oplan Tokhang.

However, barangay officials flagged De Vera to authorities after the alleged drug pusher didn't continue the police-initiated community-based recovery and wellness program, which seeks to assist surrenderers from drug dependence.

De Vera admitted to peddling illegal drugs to support his family when sought for comment. The suspect, also a fruit vendor, has five children.

"Pinipilit ko pumarehas. Wala akong makuhang trabaho. Wala rin malapitan," he told ABS-CBN News.

He will be charged with violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
