NEGROS OCCIDENTAL – A total of 183 officials including those in Bacolod, took their oath as new members of Partido Demokratiko Pilipino - Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-LABAN) on Friday.

Among the officials who joined the ruling PDP-Laban were Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Maranon Jr., and 19 mayors from different cities and municipalities in the province.

Fourteen volunteers took their oath too.

House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez administered the oath-taking ceremony.

Alvarez said that the huge number of officials in the oath-taking would most likely mean a guaranteed passage for the federal system of government.

Maranon said that for now, most of the projects especially infrastructures were given to Luzon, but with President Rodrigo Duterte's proposed system of government, provinces or states would be given more emphasis and can also stand on their own in managing the economy, creating opportunities and more.
