2 killed in Cagayan de Oro drug bust

Two drug suspects were killed in a police buy-bust operation in Upper Balulang, Cagayan de Oro City on Wednesday afternoon.

The two were identified as Carmelito Salvidas from Lanao del Norte and Ernesto Bradero from Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental.

Police Chief Inspector Richie Salva, chief of Police Station 4, said they were forced to shoot the suspects when one of them attempted to throw a hand grenade at the operatives.

Two sachets of suspected shabu, P300 buy-bust money, assorted drug paraphernalia, an MK2 fragmentation grenade, and a stolen motorcycle were recovered from the scene in on Block 59, Xavier Heights Subdivision, Upper Balulang.

The stolen motorcycle was identified by the owner, Marjun Saloloy.

Saloloy said his motorcycle was stolen outside his house in Upper Carmen, Cagayan de Oro Tuesday night.

Authorities said the two suspects were also behind several carjacking cases in Cagayan de Oro and nearby towns.

They added that Salvidas was recently released from jail. 

Police are gathering information on the suspects' companion who owns the house.
