MANILA - The Philippine National Police said Monday that was verifying President Rodrigo Duterte's matrix of local officials who allegedly funded terror activities in Marawi with drug money.
Duterte showed reporters a line diagram of alleged narco-politicians last week during his 5th visit to Marawi, where Islamic State-linked militants have been battling state troops since May 23.
"Iyung inilabas po ng Pangulo na link diagram of those who funded the activity in Marawi, from the level of the PNP, we are also looking at the list," said PNP spokesperson Dionardo Carlos.
Among the names in the matrix were Ozamiz Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog, Sr., who was killed in a police raid last July.
Also tagged in the diagram were former Marawi City Mayors Fahad "Pre" Salic , Marawi Vice Mayor Arafat Salic, Buadiposo-Buntong Mayor Noron Dadayan of Lanao del Sur, Ditsaan Vice Mayor Noridin Adiong of Ramain, and former Marantao Mayor Mohd Ali "Merikano" Abinal of Lanao del Sur.
