ILOILO - A 22-year-old woman was reportedly abducted by armed men in Barangay Central in Ajuy town here Monday.
Renelyn Ira was taken by armed men from their house. According to her brother, two bonnet-wearing armed men entered their house and pointed guns at them.
Ira willingly went with the armed men after they assured the family that they would bring her back after two to three days.
The woman is allegedly in a relationship with a businessman in Sara, Iloilo. According to her brother, they received a letter three months ago threatening his sister and telling her to avoid the place.
Ajuy Police are convinced the abduction has something to do with the businessman, who the family could not identify.
Chief Inspector Charlie Sustento, Ajuy Police Chief, confirmed that Ira's family received a text message telling them not to worry about the victim.
The message allegedly came from her.
Meanwhile, policemen have recovered the motorcycle believed to have been used by the suspects in taking Ira. They are currently tracing the owner and other information about the motorcycle.
Senior Supt. Marlon Tayaba, director of the Iloilo Provincial Police Office, said a similar incident happened in the province last week, when several students became victims of an attempted abduction outside a school in Tigbauan, Iloilo.
