MANILA- Justice Chief Vitaliano Aguirre II on Thursday conceded that it is impossible for the parents of slain teen Reynaldo "Kulot" De Guzman to misidentify the body of their son.

Doubts on the identity of the teen's body recovered with multiple stab wounds in Gapan, Nueva Ecija were raised after the Philippine National Police (PNP) bared that the recovered remains was not “Kulot” based on DNA testing using oral specimen obtained from his parents, Gabriel and Lina De Guzman.

Aguirre acknowledged that authorities cannot force the parents of the slain teen to conduct another DNA test if the latter refuse.

"Totoo naman na hindi pa naman bloated yung kwan (katawan) kaya imposible magkamali ang magulang. Kaya ang sabi ko, bahala na kayo, kayo ang mag-usap ng NBI (National Bureau of Investigation) at tsaka ng magulang," he said.

"Siyempre, apparently, hindi mo naman mapipilit pa-DNA yan pag ayaw ng magulang. Siyempre masusunod ang magulang," he added.

NBI officers who did an autopsy earlier certified in the death certificate that the remains are those of De Guzman's.

Police had sought another DNA test on the supposed body of the teen.

But Public Attorneys Office Chief Persida Acosta bared to ABS-CBN News that the slain teen's family is not amenable to the idea of another DNA test because they are already satisfied with the NBI's autopsy results.

Reynaldo was the companion of 19-year-old Carl Angelo Arnaiz who was reportedly killed in a shootout with cops in Caloocan City after allegedly attempting to rob a taxi driver. His supposed remains were buried Wednesday. -report from Willard Cheng, ABS-CBN News
