Motorists experienced heavy traffic along the stretch of the South Luzon Expressway after several checkpoints were placed near all entry and exit points of the highway.
Laguna Provincial Director, Senior Superintendent Joel Pernito said members of the Philippine National Police's (PNP) Regional Public Safety Battalion and Laguna PNP are conducting the inspections as part of the heightened security measures.
Cops were directed to enter passenger buses for random inspections while all private vehicles were subjected to visual searches.
Pernito apologized for the inconvenience but at the same time asked for the public's cooperation.
Meantime, other checkpoints manned by the combined forces of the military and police have also been placed in different parts of Quezon City.
