Authorities found a male cadaver with nine stab wounds in a nipa hut in Ilocos Norte.

CURRIMAO, ILCOOS NORTE- A male cadaver with nine stab wounds was found lying beneath a bed in a nipa hut in Barangay Pias Sur, Currimao, Ilocos Norte on Saturday.

The victim was identified as Zaldy Pascua, 44, farmer and a resident of Barangay Cabuusan.

Investigation showed that the victim and the owner of the nipa hut, Juancho Rausa, had a misunderstanding after a drinking spree.

"Itong victim kasi naninirahan sa nipa hut kasama ang suspect dahil pareho silang helper sa pagtatanim ng palay malapit sa lugar," Police said.

(The victim resides in the same nipa hut as the suspect because they are both helpers in planting rice grains in a place nearby.)

Police added that after the incident Rausa went at the house of his relative, Edison Doctor, and admitted that he killed Pascua and immediately fled.

Authorities were able to arrest Rausa at Sta. Praxedes, Cagayan.

Rausa said, they don't have any grudge with the victim and cannot recall what really happened.

"Sobrang kalasingan lang siguro," Rausa said.

(Perhaps because of too much drunkenness.)

Meanwhile, the victim's family is distraught and surprised, saying that they used to treat the suspect as part of their family.

"Pag pumapasyal siya dito sa bahay, nag-iinuman sila ng anak ko dito siya minsan kumakain, natutulog kaya hindi ko alam kung ano ang rason bakit niya ginawa iyon," Ruperto Pascua, father of the victim said.

(When he comes to visit, he drinks with my son and would sometimes dine and sleep here. That's why I do not understand the reason why he did what he did.)

A murder case will be filed against Rausa.
