A low pressure area spotted east of Baler, Aurora has developed into a tropical depression and was named "Kiko", weather bureau PAGASA said Monday.
In its 5 p.m. advisory, PAGASA said the center of the tropical depression was estimated at 490 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora.
Packing 55 kph winds near the center and gusts of up to 65 kph, the tropical depression is forecast to move west northwest at 15 kph.
"Estimated rainfall amount is from moderate to heavy within the 300 km diameter of the Tropical Depression," PAGASA said.
The weather bureau said tropical cyclone warning signal No. 1 may be raised in Babuyan Group of Islands and Northern Cagayan Monday night.
