Mandaue fire leaves three dead, one injured

MANDAUE CITY, CEBU - Three people were dead and one sustained critical burns, while eight families lost their homes in a fire that occurred in Barangay Ibabao-Estancia, around 5:31 a.m. Thursday.

The victims were identified as Nestor Ouano, 60, his sister Lyn Ouano King, 50, and Lyn's daughter, Crislyn King, 16.

Nestor's sister, Aida Ouano, 61, sustained a third degree burn and was immediately brought to the Mandaue District Hospital.

Bayan Patroller Lyndon Ruiz shared a footage of the incident.

Based on the investigation of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the fire started at the second floor of the Ouano family's home.

The fire was controlled at 6:06 a.m., and was put out at 6:21 a.m.

SFO1 Edgardo Vergara of the Mandaue City Fire Station, said five homes were burned, while the adjacent St. Jude Funeral Homes was also affected.

Damages are estimated to be P100,000 in total.

BFP is still investigating the cause of fire, but they are looking into a possible electrical misuse.
