PAGADIAN CITY—The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Tuesday filed a murder charge against the two policemen who killed a former Marawi soldier in Zamboanga del Sur.

PO2 Ronald Zeros and PO1 Michael Bulanday of the Aurora Police Station gunned down Private First Class Rodilo Bartolome.

The cops were responding to reports from residents of a suspicious person in Barangay Monte Alegre, Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur on August 24.

Bartolome was reported to the police as suspicious due to his overgrown mustache. He allegedly attacked the cops, which caused their retaliation.

Bartolome was recently deployed to fight the Maute group in Marawi, and was a member of the 53rd Infantry Brigade of the Philippine Army.

Chief Inspector Helen Galvez said the two cops were restricted since the first day of the investigation and are now in custody at the Police Provincial Office Holding Unit.

Aside from the murder charge filed by the AFP and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Regional Office 9, the Philippine National Police will also file administrative and criminal charges for the two cops.
