MANILA - A woman who stood on a high ledge at an elevated walkway in Pasay City narrowly escaped death after rescuers stopped her fall Saturday morning.
The unidentified woman had been standing for hours on the ledge, witnesses said, and refused to listen to police and fire rescue volunteers.
An inflatable airbag was deployed to catch her fall.
The woman, who is in her late 20s, sat down at one point and rescuers found the opportunity to try and grab her.
She slipped from the grasp of a rescuer and fell towards a makeshift catcher set up on the ground below.
She was immediately brought to the Pasay City General Hospital.
