ILOCOS NORTE - A supporter of former President Ferdinand Marcos lashed back at critics who have been trying to stop his burial at the Libingan ng mga Bayani (Heroes' Cemetery).

Melvin dela Cuesta, founder and former president of Solid Marcos Loyalists (SML), stressed that the late Marcos is not just qualified, but is more than qualified to be buried at Libingan ng mga Bayani, considering the prestigious titles he held.

"Among the former presidents buried at Libingan ng mga Bayani, Marcos was the only former president who served as national defense secretary from 1965 -1967 during the term of President Macapagal and also became a national defense secretary during his term from 1971-1972 before the proclamation of Martial Law," he explained.

Dela Cuesta added that Marcos was also a prime minister (PM) of the Philippines, which is why his hero's burial should not be questioned.

He even expressed disappointment at some politicians opposing what he believes is a historical burial.

“Alam niyo, nagsisisi na ako eh, na bumoto kay Senator [Risa] Hontiveros, wala na siyang ginawa, lahat ng mga kasamahan niya sa Manila, nanggugulo ng kapayapaan. These people are the noisy minority during and after Marcos regime," said dela Cuesta.

According to him, these people are just sabotaging the momentum of genuine reconciliation, hence, he is urging Duterte to listen to them but never to be dictated by them.
