MANILA - The Palace said government is planning to open ''large capacity'' drug rehabilitation centers under a public-private partnership.
Presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella said the rehab centers would be under the auspices of the Department of the Interior and Local Government and Department of Health.
The government is facing the daunting task of rehabilitating some 600,000 drug pushers and users who have surrendered to authorities.
Five of the country's regions have no rehabilitation centers, according to Isidro Lapena, Director General of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency earlier said.
Rehabilitation centers around the country have also reported overcapacity.
