TALISAY CITY - A police officer and his wife were killed in a anti-illegal drugs operation Tuesday night in Barangay Pooc, Talisay City in Cebu.

Police Officer (PO) 3 Ryan Quiamco died on the spot. His wife, Rizalyn, was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

According to the police, a transaction was supposed to take place at the South Road Properties, but Quiamco allegedly fired his gun after noticing that he was dealing with operatives.

Quiamco and his wife fled on board their black pick-up truck. They were then chased by the police.

Also wounded in the encounter were bystanders Nilo dela Cerna and a minor.

PO2 Jimuel Villaflores also sustained a gunshot wound.

Quiamco became a police officer in 2002 and used to be part of the SWAT of the Cebu City Police Office.

Last year, he was transferred to Camp Crame after he was named by President Rodrigo Duterte as one of those involved in the illegal drug trade.

Senior Supt. Jonathan Cabal said they started their monitoring Quiamco last April.

He said the cop's illegal drug supply allegedly came from the Parojinogs in Ozamiz City.

Quiamco was number 2 on their watch list, Cabal said.

Cabal said that their operation was legitimate.

He added they are monitoring other police officers on the "narco-cop" list of the President.
