MANILA - Vice President Leni Robredo challenged former Senator Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. to name who among the members of the Liberal Party (LP) was involved or behind the alleged bribery of witnesses in his poll protest.
Marcos' camp earlier said the LP bribed his witnesses to turn against him. Some of the witnesses said their affidavits, where they claimed witnessing poll fraud, were fake.
Robredo's camp said there are false witnesses in Marcos' electoral protest. Verification made by Robredo's volunteers revealed that the testimonies were in pro-forma form and some people were allegedly convinced to stand as witness in support of Marcos' protest.
"Tanungin dapat siya kung sinong LP," said Robredo in a press briefing held in Quezon City on Tuesday.
She explained that it is unfair for the party and other party members to be dragged into the issue, since the party has no hand in the electoral protest.
Robredo believes it is also unfair for her and the people who supported her.
"Nahihiya akong sagutin yan kasi abugado namin walang bayad, tapos mababalita may pambayad sa ganun," said Robredo.
Robredo defeated Marcos by a slim margin in the vice-presidential race.
Marcos suspects the votes were manipulated in favor of Robredo, a member of the LP, the ruling party at the time of the elections.
