MANILA - Malacañang will announce on Monday the firing of a "high-ranking" military official over "ghost deliveries," Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said.
The institution which the official belongs to is "close to the heart of the President," Roque told ANC's Headstart.
"He thinks that by doubling the salary of our soldiers that corruption will be minimized, but it actually continues... He's very aggrieved and mad about the incident," Roque said of Duterte.
A contract signed during the Duterte administration resulted to P1.5-billion worth of ghost deliveries, he said.
Roque said he was not certain if the official was appointed by the President, but it definitely is not Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana or Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff, Gen. Carlito Galvez Jr.
