MANILA - US State Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on Sunday paid tribute to American and Filipino soldiers who died during World World War 2.
Tillerson, who is in the country to attend a high-level meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Pasay, laid flowers for the fallen soldiers at the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial in Taguig.
The US official is set to face ASEAN ministers and hold a bilateral meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte and Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano on Sunday afternoon.
The bilateral talks will tackle the terrorist rampage in Marawi City, Philippine-US economic ties, and human rights, Cayetano earlier said.
Canada, South Korea, New Zealand Russia and Australia have already conducted ministerial meetings with ASEAN leaders early Sunday.
The regional block was set to hold talks next with China, India, Japan and the European Union. -- With Michael Delizo, DZMM
