MANILA - Solicitor General Jose Calida asked several courts to order the re-detention of consultants of communist rebels, as formal peace talks were put on hold, his office said in a statement on Friday.

The National Democratic Front consultants who were granted conditional release "should be recommitted and their respective bonds should likewise be cancelled," according to the statement.

Invoking Supreme Court resolutions, Calida said, "One of the conditions provide that once the peace negotiations are terminated, their bonds are deemed automatically cancelled."

Twenty-one were granted temporary liberty to aid the peace talks, the statement said.
