PALAWAN - Authorities confiscated over 800 pieces of live fish during a monitoring operation conducted by the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD) District Coron, Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine National Police (PNP) and Bantay Dagat in Coron, Palawan.

Among those confiscated were around 826 live suno and several other species of fish. They were found in a fish cage owned by Ronel Rosas, Edsel Rosas, and Ryan Cuesta.

Authorities conduct regular monitoring following the implementation of PCSD Administrative Order No. 05 last June 16, which declared the closing of the season for live fish. However, some individuals disregard the order.

Authorities have already recorded 10 violations since June 16.

Meanwhile, fishermen from Taytay, Palawan, organized a rally against the declaration of close season, which will last until August 31.

The fishermen's protest has reached the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, but PCSD argued that fishermen have been well-informed, and are aware about the implementation of said administrative order.
