Seven loggers who were abducted on July 20 in two separate towns in Basilan were found dead.

Maluso Mayor Hanie Bud confirmed that the abducted father and son Dodong and Ily Divinagracia were found on Saturday in a hinterland barangay in the boundaries of Maluso and Lantawan municipalities.

The victims were decapitated and were already in the advanced state of decomposition.

Abu Sayyaf Group members set on fire the house of the Divinagracia family and abducted Dodong and Ily.

The bandits, dragging their captives, then walked towards the neighboring town of Lantawan and forcibly took five more civilians.

They were identified as Hernando Sally, Mamerto Falcasantos, Renato Sanson, Rene Casiple and a certain Bert.

Bud confirmed the headless bodies of the five other victims were discovered on Sunday a few meters from where the Divinagracias were found.

The victims were identified through their clothes by their respective families.

Bud suspected the victims were killed the day they were abducted 10 days ago.

While the families of the five civilians already brought the bodies of their slain kin in their respective homes, the Divinagracias are still in the area.

Bud said they will be bringing body bags and chemicals to the site tomorrow.

The local chief executive identified the groups of Abu Sayyaf Group sub-commander Radzmil Janatul and a certin Pasil as those possibly involved in the carnage.

The military has yet to release a report about the abduction and the subsequent recovery of the cadavers of the victims.
