DAVAO CITY - President Rodrigo Duterte met with 50 congressmen from all over Mindanao in this city on Saturday night.
The meeting was held at the "After Dark Piano Bar", a videoke-restaurant-bar located in Ecoland and one of Duterte's favorite watering holes.
Dozens of Davaoeños waited outside the bar, in hopes of catching a glimpse of Duterte, who had served as mayor of Davao City for 22 years.
The crowd was rewarded when the President gave time to take pictures and talk with them before his meeting with the lawmakers.
Officials have yet to confirm the meeting's agenda, as of Sunday morning.
Before the gathering, Duterte also met with former President Fidel Ramos at Davao City's Marco Polo Hotel yesterday.
Ramos said he accepted the President's offer to act as special envoy to China after an international court invalidated the Asian giant's vast sea claims in favor of the Philippines.
Duterte also attended the wake of his friend, Regional Trial Court (RTC) Judge Paul Arcangle, at the Cosmopolitan Funeral parlor. -- Report from Elric Ayop, ABS-CBN News Southern Mindanao
