The pre-trial of Bohol Provincial Board Member Nino Rey Boniel has been deferred to September 18.
His camp asked for the deferment after he was the only one identified among the five accused of killing his wife, Bien Unido Mayor Gisela Boniel.
Strict security was implemented around the perimeter of the Talibon Regional Trial Court, with police conducting checkpoints.
On June 29, Board Member Boniel pleaded not guilty to kidnapping and serious illegal detention charges filed against him by the mayor's best friend Angela Leyson.
The mayor was allegedly thrown off a boat in Caubian Island in Cebu after she was shot dead allegedly by her husband on June 8.
