LA UNION--A truck carrying 27 crates of round scad fish (galunggong) was seized in the auxiliary market of San Fernando, La Union Monday morning.
A fish examiner confirmed that the fish were caught using explosives after checking a sample of the goods.
City Fishery Program Coordinator Florycel Obeñana said the fish came from Cabugao, Ilocos Sur. They amounted to Php 891,100.
Meanwhile, Bobby Barba, who rented the truck, was sanctioned under the Coastal Resources Management and Fisheries Code of the city.
Barba paid an administrative fine of Php 5,000.
