MANILA - Businesswoman Janet Lim-Napoles, who allegedly conspired with lawmakers to get kickbacks from "pork barrel" funds, pleaded not guilty to graft and malversation on Tuesday.
The charges stemmed from the alleged misuse of P7,720,000 in priority development assistance funds of former Davao Del Norte Rep. Arrel Olaño. It is one of many such cases filed against Napoles.
Olaño is Napoles' co-accused alongside officials of the Department of Budget and Management and the now-defunct Technology and Livelihood Resource Center.
According to an investigation by the Ombudsman, the PDAF was used to fund fictitious projects in Davao del Norte.
Olaño and the other officials were not arranged since they are contesting the filing of the charges.
Sandiganbayan 2nd Division Chair Oscar Herrera set the arraignment for the remaining accused on Sept. 4.
