BUTUAN CITY - Authorities arrested Wednesday a police officer for firing his handgun inside a compound in Barangay Lumbocan, Butuan City.
Investigation revealed PO2 Rogelio Montadas Jr., assigned to the Butuan City Public Safety Company, slapped a certain Ryne Harold Amper who was buying a made-to-order guitar inside the compound of the Montejo family.
Other complainants said Montadas, who was in civilian clothes, pushed them away and shouted "hawa mo Maute ni!" (go away, I'm Maute member!), threatening to kill them.
The cop then fired his gun for no apparent reason but did not hit anyone.
PO2 Bernard Amora, Butuan City Police Station 3 Investigator, said Montadas smelled of alcohol after being accosted by authorities.
Recovered from the scene were two pieces of fired cartridge of caliber 9mm pistol. Ammunition and caliber 9mm service pistol issued by the PNP were confiscated from the police officer.
The complainants said Montadas allegedly lost thousands of pesos at a cockpit.
Montadas is now in the custody of Butuan City Police Station 3. He is facing charges of alarm and scandal, trespass to dwelling and physical injury.
