MANILA - State weather bureau PAGASA late Wednesday night warned of possible flooding in Metro Manila and nearby provinces due to rains spawned by the southwest monsoon or habagat.
In its 11 p.m. rainfall warning, PAGASA placed Metro Manila, Bataan, Batangas, and Cavite under orange-level alert.
A yellow-level alert was hoisted in Zambales, Pampanga, Bulacan, Laguna, and Rizal.
Low-lying areas in these provinces are vulnerable to flooding.
Meanwhile, light to moderate with occasional heavy rains are expected over Nueva Ecija and Quezon, which may persist within 3 hours.
Continuous heavy rains have forced the cancellation of classes in some provinces.
