Five Korean nationals are facing charges before the Department of Justice (DOJ) for illegal online gambling and violation of the Cybercrime Prevention Act.

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Cybercrime Division identified the five as Cheonji Kim, Ilhwan Yang, Wonsup Yang, Jeong Hyeok Kim, and Moon Kyu Kang.

They were arrested in an operation in Valle Verde 3, Pasig City last May 16.

"Initial digital forensic analysis was conducted by the operatives from the NBI Digital Forensic Laboratory. It yielded a result that the subjects run the administrator web page for online sports betting," the complaint read.

The NBI seized one computer set system and one router.

Respondents were subjected to inquest proceedings before DOJ Associate Prosecution Atty. Moises Acayan, where they were represented by counsel.

The case is now deemed submitted for resolution.
