ILOCOS NORTE- At 63, Henry Yaplito doesn't find his age a hindrance when it comes to his desire to work again as a tour guide of Taoid Museum in Laoag City.

A former OFW in Saudi Arabia, Yaplito decided to go back to the Philippines in 2004 with his Ilocana wife.

The two do not have a pension but managed to earn enough to build a sari-sari store that eventually closed.

"Pinasok ko ang summer job because I want to earn money for food, at the same time for medicine for my wife," he said.

Yaplito started his museum guide job last April 3 courtesy of the Summer Tourism Job for senior citizens organized by Ilocos Norte Provincial Government.

He is grateful for the opportunity to work again.

"Ang pagiging tour guide, maganda. At least nakaka-earn ka nang knowledge. Two days ko lang inaral, ayun kinaya ko naman," he said.

He is one of 17 senior citizens and retirees deployed in various museums and churches in Ilocos Norte.

He hopes his job will be extended until December.
