Ex-police caught with shabu in Butuan

BUTUAN CITY – Police arrested a former officer tagged in the 2009 Philippine National Police (PNP) helicopter scam in Villa Kananga here Thursday after he was caught with illegal drugs. 

Avensuel Go Dy, considered among high-value drug suspects in the city, was caught inside his home as police conducted a search operation. 

Seized from his possession were 13 sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or "shabu," drug paraphernalia, two guns and 10 pieces of ammunition, police said.

The Butuan City Police placed him under the surveillance for three weeks after being suspected of selling drugs in the city. 

He was dismissed from the service for his involvement in the 2009 PNP helicopter scam. He was previously assigned at the PNP National Headquarters in Camp Crame. 

The suspect declined an interview. --With a report from May Diez
