Paving the way for trial, the Sandiganbayan Third Division has found probable cause in the graft and falsification charges filed against former Makati City Mayor Junjun Binay for the construction of the allegedly overpriced P2.3-billion Makati City Hall Building 2.
The court did not issue an arrest warrant against Binay as the former Makati Mayor has posted bail in advance.
Binay's cases stemmed from the construction of the allegedly overpriced Makati City Hall Parking Building 2. His father, former Vice President Jejomar Binay, is among other respondents in the case.
The younger Binay is scheduled to be arraigned on May 18.
The former Vice President has yet to be arraigned after he refused the conditional arraignment required by the court for his motion to travel abroad.
The Binay father and son earlier asked the court for permission to embark on a "spiritually-charged pilgrimage" to Israel from May 15 to 29. Prosecutors have opposed the plea.
