MANILA - La Mesa Dam has been put on code red status Thursday as its water level drops to below normal.
From the normal level of 79.3 meters, the water level at La Mesa Dam is now at 78.4, as of 6:00 a.m. of the same day.
Water Source Engineer Ariel Tapel told ABS-CBN News that high demand of water is the reason behind the drop.
He said water level at the La Mesa Dam usually dips during summer but it is unusual that it goes below normal level.
Tapel clarified that this is not an extreme situation but said it is important for consumers to conserve water to prevent shortage.
La Mesa Dam also asked the public to report leaks and illegal connections to their office.--with reports from Zhander Cayabyab, Radyo Patrol 49
