Trouble in Paradise
Officials will hold an inter-agency meeting on the island in an effort to move on from the closure ordered by President Duterte. Employees of establishments have reportedly lost their jobs due to the closure. What will be done for these employees? Also, Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque will hold a briefing for the press. The Spotlight on Human Rights in the Philippines
European Union political party official Giacomo Filibeck who was recently deported from the Philippines will join ANC’s Early Edition over the phone to talk about his experience. On Skype, Early Edition hosts will talk to former CHR chair Loreta “Etta” Rosales on the Filibeck case and the recent recommendation of the Consultative Commission (Con-Com) on the revision of the Constitution to elevate the CHR to a constitutional body.
Grief Over Grab
The LTFRB will tackle reports of Grab’s fare surges as netizens complain online of high fares. Stay tuned to ANC for the LTFRB’s action on the matter. Uber’s operations officially ended on Monday. Meanwhile, the PCC gave the two companies until April 17 to explain why they failed to continue Uber’s operations while the PCC reviews their deal.
Vexations over Dengvaxia
A word war is brewing between Sen. Panfilo Lacson and Sen. Richard Gordon over the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee’s report on the Dengvaxia controversy. Lacson says he has firmed up his decision not to sign the report due to the “unreasonable” comments made by a colleague he did not name. But he has referring to Gordon who said he was no longer surprised Lacson would not sign the report because of Lacson’s closeness with former president PNoy. Reports said that at least 5 senators have signed the report. ANC will talk to the two lawmakers to get their views on their exchange.
The PSEi fell to its lowest level in 8 months at 7870.25. Analyst Miko Sayo told ANC the current support level stands at 7500 and that the PSEi could go that low. Will the market sink that low or is a recovery possible? Watch ANC for updates on the stock market.
