ILOILO - A fireman living in the town of Banate has filled his home with wooden furniture and carvings he created from fallen trees and scrap wood.
John Peter Manzano said he started gathering scrap wood after Super Typhoon Yolanda devastated and toppled trees in parts of Visayas in 2013.
Tables, chairs, benches, and table centerpieces are among Manzano's masterpieces.
Each piece has its own story to tell, but images of Jesus Christ carved in wood are among his most meaningful creations, Manzano told ABS-CBN News.
Manzano said he hopes his craft will help raise awareness on environment protection and recycling.
