A San Fernando town councilor in southern Cebu was shot dead in broad daylight on Wednesday.
Alexander Alicaway was on his way to the municipal hall when a man wearing a green jacket and a full-faced helmet got off a motorcycle and shot him in the head.
Police investigation showed that some of the councilor's belongings, such as jewelry and a cellphone, were stolen. Witnesses said the gunman took the items before leaving the crime scene.
Authorities are considering robbery as a motive. A slug of a 45 caliber pistol was recovered at the crime scene.
