FORT DEL PILAR, Baguio City- For the first time as Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, President Rodrigo Duterte on Sunday hosted lunch for the new graduates of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) and their parents.

Duterte and the 167-strong PMA "Salaknib" Class of 2017 dined on sisig-style beef tapa with caramelized onions, crispy lumpiang ubod with peanut sauce, fish tempura with pinakbet salsa enchalada, and chicken roulade with adobo sauce.

The President's guests were also served native brown rice and jasmine rice.

This is the first time that a sitting president hosted a banquet for PMA alumni and their parents, said PMA spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Reynaldo Balido.

Previous presidents, Balido said, only served merienda to PMA graduates at The Mansion, the official presidential residence in Baguio City.

Duterte's Sunday lunch with PMA graduates was held at the Yap Hall in Fort Del Pilar after the commencement rites of Class Salaknib.
