MANILA — Embattled Senator Leila de Lima on Saturday called on the public to "open their eyes" to the revelations made by retired SPO3 Arturo Lascañas and Edgar Matobato on the alleged Davao Death Squad (DDS).
In a handwritten note released to media, De Lima said the public should listen to the two confessed hitmen.
"It's time for the entire nation to listen and open their eyes on what Lascañas and Matobato had so far revealed and shall further reveal before it is too late for us and our children," she said.
"STOP THE KILLINGS, STOP THE LIES . . . STOP IMPUNITY!" De Lima added.
De Lima previously said that Lascañas' statements are credible since he has everything to lose in linking President Rodrigo Duterte to the alleged DDS.
Matobato's testimonies are "admissible and worthy of credence" because it was based on personal knowledge.
Lascañas and Matobato claim that the alleged death squad exists under the command of then Davao City mayor Duterte.
De Lima is currently detained at the Custodial Center in Camp Crame over drug charges.
