Philippine Coast Guard members stationed in Talibon town in Bohol helped to rescued 15 Chinese nationals on board a motorbanca that experienced engine trouble in waters off Cabul an Island in Buenavista town, Bohol Tuesday afternoon.

According to Ethel Natera, staff of the Chinese Consulate in Cebu, the foreign tourists hired a boat on their way to Cebu, while boat trips are still cancelled due to tropical depression Basyang.

Coast-guard personnel in Talibon received the distress call from Natera at 2:29 p.m., then sent a team to the area. The passengers were rescued at about 5 p.m.

Authorities confirmed that the motorbanca is unregistered and wasn't cleared to set sail. They were looking to investigate the operator of the banca for possible violations.

Natera said Chinese nationals have been warned to be vigilant in their trips because of the typhoon.

The rescued passengers were brought to Getafe town as they await for boat trips to resume.
