MANILA - The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has been tasked to investigate the brutal slay of a teen house helper working at posh Ayala Alabang Village in Muntinlupa City last January.
Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre said he ordered a probe by the NBI, an attached agency of the Department of Justice (DOJ), because there seems to be a dissatisfaction with the ongoing investigation into the incident.
The police are conducting an investigation into the slay of 17-year-old Richelle Sagang, whose body was found in Sta. Maria, Bulacan on January 12. Her severed head was recovered in a creek in Makati City two days after.
"Some are not satisfied with the ongoing investigation being conducted," Aguirre said in a text message.
The order for the NBI to investigate the case was contained in a one-page department order dated February 8, 2016.
According to the police, a certain "Leon Marco," "Samantha," and the victim's employer, "Aleli," were last seen with the victim before she died. They all went to the village's security office to report a theft incident against Sagang.
The Muntinlupa City government has put up a P100,000 reward for any information that can lead to the arrest of the Sagang's killers.
