Four drug suspects, including the brother of a Lapu Lapu City councilor, were arrested in separate buy-bust operations in Lapu-Lapu City Monday night.
Authorities arrested Victor Amores, 50, inside his rented apartment in Barangay Gun-ob. At the time of the operation, Erwin Sullano, who was inside Amores’ apartment, was also arrested.
Amores is the brother of Lapu-Lapu City Councilor Rico Amores, police said. He is identified by policemen as a high value target while Sullano, according to police, is Amores' runner.
Amores and Sullano were caught with almost 6-grams of suspected shabu. Cash, believed to be proceeds from their illegal drug transactions, was also confiscated.
"He (Amores) is a drug surrenderer but then continued with the illegal transaction. According to our source he transferred from one place to another making him difficult to be arrested,” Police Senior Inspector Genesis Aniversario said.
Aniversario added they still have to check on Amores' connections as he was uncooperative during the arrest and did not give out information regarding his source.
For his part, Amores denied the allegation that the suspected shabu was his.
Meanwhile, authorities also arrested Caba Caba Pepito, 29, and Ernesto Melano, 40 in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Poblacion and confiscated around P5,000 worth of suspected shabu from them.
The suspects are now detained at the Lapu-Lapu City Detention cell.
